The link above states that at one point, the parents got ahold of the hostage takers right after the police yanked them from their car.

It said they (hostage takers) really got a working over before the police got control of the situation.

They should have let the parents have them.

Can you imagine having several dozen parents wanting to rip you limb from limb? I can't think of anything much worse for them to be put through.
